CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. – Two people were airlifted to a trauma center Saturday evening after an all‑terrain vehicle (ATV) crashed in a wooded area off Traeleigh Lane, according to emergency officials.

The incident was reported at 6:50 p.m. on May 30, as a rescue in inaccessible terrain after a caller reported an ATV crash in the wood line with two people down and bleeding. Responders initially attempted to access the scene from Traeleigh Lane but were redirected to 14805 Oaks Road, where they were flagged down and guided into a nearby field.

Rescue crews located both patients and brought them out of the woods for treatment. Command was established at 7:05 p.m., and additional units were returned once access and patient needs were confirmed.

A landing zone was set up at 14320 Oaks Road.

According to EMS reports, 32‑year‑old woman was thrown approximately 20 feet from the ATV. She was unrestrained and without a helmet. She was alert with a reported clavicle injury. A 33‑year‑old man, also unrestrained and without a helmet, suffered multiple long‑bone injuries. He was placed on a backboard and cervical collar.

A helicopter transported both patients to MedStar Trauma Center and the emergency crews command was completed by 8 p.m.
