PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Huntingtown woman has been charged after deputies alleged she stole groceries from Weis Markets in Prince Frederick, spit toward a deputy and later made threats toward law enforcement officers.

Sommer Lee West, 41, of Huntingtown, is charged with theft of $100 to under $1,500, theft less than $100, second-degree assault on law enforcement, malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000 and false statement to an officer, according to court and charging documents.

The case stems from a reported theft around 9:28 a.m. May 21, 2026, at Weis Markets at 750 Prince Frederick Boulevard. Charging documents describe the suspect as a petite white woman wearing a turquoise hoodie, black slacks and brunette hair tied in a bun.

Deputies canvassed the area and located a woman matching the description walking through the WesBanco parking lot. She was later identified as West.

According to the statement of probable cause, deputies initially found no evidence of stolen merchandise on West, and she was released from law enforcement custody while another deputy continued checking the area.

Deputies later located two Weis grocery bags in a wooded area behind the IHOP at 680 N. Prince Frederick Boulevard. The items were recovered and returned to Weis for inventory.

Charging documents list the value of the stolen items at $107.65. Deputies also reviewed store security footage, which allegedly showed West entering Weis without grocery bags and leaving with two bags of stolen items after passing all points of sale without making a purchase.

After reviewing the footage, deputies began searching for West again. The Calvert Control Center then received a call from a nearby business reporting that a woman matching the suspect description was behind the building.

Deputies located West running south from the business. She was arrested without incident and placed in the back of a marked patrol vehicle.

While seated in the patrol vehicle, charging documents allege West spit on the window and attempted to spit toward a deputy during a conversation with another deputy. Deputies later placed a spit mask over her head after she allegedly continued salivating on her person.

During transport to the Calvert County Detention Center, West allegedly made several homicidal statements toward law enforcement officers, including a statement about hoping they would get shot and die and a statement about praying twice daily for the death of law enforcement officers, according to charging documents.

The document notes the events were recorded on an Axon body-worn camera.

West appeared before a judicial officer on May 21, 2026, and was released on a $1,500 unsecured personal bond.

A trial is scheduled for July 6, 2026, at Calvert District Court in Prince Frederick.
