The Screwpile Lighthouse Regatta came to end after three days of sailing fun, close races and some great times. The Chesapeake Bay-wide sailboat racing event has become a quite a tradition for sailors across the globe.
Events began on Sunday with light winds and some tough sailing conditions, but by Monday, the winds picked up and the sailing action was hot and heavy.
During the races, sailors competed in one to four races a day over the three days. When the races were done, everyone that participated considered the event another rousing success.
To the winners, the event was even sweeter.
The winner of the PHRF A0 Class was Ramrod skippered by Rod Jabin. The winning boat in the PHRF A1 Class was Wairere under Pete Hunter. The winner of the Beneteau 36.7 Class was Pegasus skippered by Peter S. Firey, Sr. These boats competed on the South Race Course.
On the North Course the winner of the J/35 Class was Maggie with Peter Scheidt at the helm. In the PHRF A2 Class, the winning boat was (no name) skippered by J. White T. Ballard. In the J/105 Class the winning boat was Mirage under Cedric Lewis. The final class competing on the North Course, the PHRF A3 was won by Remedy under Bert Carp.
On the West Course in the Sport Boat Class, the winner was Problem Child skippered by Brian Jones. In the PHRF B Class, A parent Tripp took the prize under Brett Harrison John Yeigh. The winner in the PHRF C/D Class was Caribbean Soul II with David McAleer at the helm. The final class in the Regatta, the PHRF NS Class was won by Black Widow under Leo Wardrup.
