Annmarie Garden Mother’s Day Maker’s Market

SOLOMONS, Md. — Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, a nonprofit and Smithsonian Affiliate, hosted its annual Mother’s Day Maker’s Market on Saturday just off Dowell Road. The weather was near perfect, drawing artisans and shoppers alike to the open-air event.

Vendors traveled from Pasadena, Edgewater, and the local tri-county area. Stations were beautifully arranged, as is customary at Annmarie Garden events, which are known for their charm and artistic appeal.

Some vendors said the day was a bit slower than expected, possibly due to makeup youth sporting events taking place elsewhere in town.

One standout exhibitor was Cozaana Unique Silver Work, owned by Carlos Zepeda of Edgewater. Originally from a poor community in Belize, Zepeda has always had an artist’s eye.

“Everyone has an artist inside,” Zepeda said.

He now works full-time out of his art studio. When asked about his motivation, he said,

“The almighty dollar. I came from a poor area and I wanted to become stable.”

Zepeda’s work can be found on Facebook at Cozaana.bz.

A crowd favorite was The Sipping Station, a mobile mocktail bar service owned by Evie Kozlowski. Known for crafting non-alcoholic beverages, Kozlowski also travels for private events.

“We have enjoyed it out here today,” Kozlowski said. “We also host private events; we have one coming up here soon.”

Jan Cote, owner of Rainbow of Colors, displayed a wide array of handcrafted jewelry, noting her inspiration comes from honoring God through her business.

Chance Pulliam, owner of Pulliam Printworx, offered 3D printing and design work that captured visitors’ attention. His precision and unique style set him apart.
