LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Prosecutors are pursuing multiple charges against Kalyn Louise Dziergowski, a 38-year-old woman from Lexington Park, following a spiral of criminal activity that includes theft, fraud, eluding police, identity deception and an alleged attempt to manipulate a drug test while on pretrial release.
According to charging documents, on July 8, 2025, corrections officers at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center discovered a small blue-taped bottle concealed inside Dziergowski’s body. The bottle, which she reportedly admitted contained apple juice, was allegedly intended to falsify a urine sample while under pretrial supervision. Surveillance footage captured Dziergowski removing and attempting to re-conceal the item following her monitored drug test, which had already returned positive for multiple controlled substances.
Court records further reveal Dziergowski had recently fled from a June 29 traffic stop on MacArthur Boulevard in California, Md. At that time, she allegedly provided officers with a false name, exited her vehicle, abandoned her sandals and attempted to outrun police barefoot through a residential neighborhood. She was ultimately arrested and charged with hindering, obstruction, resisting arrest and providing false identification to avoid prosecution for active warrants.
Those warrants stemmed from an earlier March incident in which Dziergowski was accused of stealing a black 2012 Honda Accord and more than $3,700 from a Mechanicsville man who had let her borrow his phone. Charging documents state she accessed his CashApp and DraftKings accounts to drain his bank balance through 14 unauthorized transactions, then failed to return his vehicle despite repeated requests. The stolen car was later recovered outside Dziergowski’s listed residence at the Oxford Court Apartments in Lexington Park.
Altogether, Dziergowski is facing at least 17 charges across multiple cases, including two felony counts of theft over $1,500, felony theft scheme charges, a felony unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, several counts of misdemeanor theft under $100 and $1,500, and one count of attempting to alter a drug/alcohol test.
She is currently being held without bond. Her most recent bail hearing, on July 9, 2025, was presided over by Judge Patrick R. Duley, who ordered continued detention. Court records indicate Dziergowski is being represented by the Office of the Public Defender.
If convicted on all counts, she could face more than 20 years in prison, with maximum penalties including up to 15 years for felony theft, five years for motor vehicle theft and additional time for obstruction-related misdemeanors.
