On July 31 at approximately 1230 pm, St. Maryโ€™s County BCI detectives charged Trevis L. Butler, 27 years of age, from Mechanicsville, with 2 counts of Second Degree Assault, for the July 29th incident on Kavanaugh Road in Mechanicsville, where a 15 year old female received a fractured skull from a piece of concrete being thrown into the car she was traveling in.ย  Detectives learned that Butler was on work release from the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center when the assault occurred.ย  Additional charges are pending a review by the States Attorneyโ€™s Office. Butler remains at the Detention Center where he was already incarcerated on unrelated charges.

On July 29 at approximately 6 p.m., a 15 year old female was traveling with three other people in a car on Kavanaugh Road in Mechanicsville. An unknown suspect threw a piece of concrete through the driverโ€™s side window of the vehicle in which she was a rear seat passenger, striking her in the head.

The victim, a resident of Waldorf, sustained a fractured skull and was flown by Medstar to Washington Hospital Center.
