Barstow, MD –ย Itโ€™s fair week in Calvert County and the first public spectator event is choosing Miss Tranquility and Lord Calvert. The 2018 contest was held Sunday, Sept. 23 in the main building at the Calvert County Fairgrounds. A three-judge panel weighed all the criteriaโ€”including the contestantsโ€™ autobiographical and extemporaneous speechesโ€”and made their decision after a lengthy deliberation.

The judges chose Huntingtown High School senior Madison Attick as Miss Tranquility and Northern High School senior Thomas Ridenour as Lord Calvert.

The other contestants in the Miss Tranquility contest were Katarina Gaethlein, Taylor Parker, Lauren Butz and Briana Nelson. The other Lord Calvert candidate was Joseph Crunkleton.

The program was hosted by 2017 Miss Tranquility, Catherine Bubser. Calvert County commissioners Steve Weems and Mike Hart presented proclamations to the winning contestants.

The 2018 Calvert County Fair will officially open Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m., Sept. 26 and run through Sunday, Sept. 30.
