(Waldorf, MD., Jun. 21, 2017) – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (33-25) fell to York Revolution (22-37) 15-9, with the Revs putting up 14 runs in the first four innings.

The Revs got ahead early, scoring one in the first on an Isaias Tejeda double, scoring Alonzo Harris from first. The Blue Crabs responded quickly, putting up five runs in the top of the second. With one out in the inning, Zach Cone singled, moving up on a walk and a wild pitch. Last nightโ€™s hero, Brian Bistagne, picked up a single, scoring Cone. After a Jose Lozada single loaded the bases, Edwin Garcia clubbed his first home run of the season, a grand slam to put Southern Maryland ahead 6-1.

The Revs fought back, as they had Daryl Thompsonโ€™s number early and often on the mound. Three straight hits started the bottom of the second, scoring a run before an out was recorded. After picking up two outs, Thompson (5-4) allowed back-to-back doubles, scoring three runs and cutting the lead to 6-4.

York got to Thompson again in the third, combining two hits and two hit-by-pitches to score a pair of runs and run the Blue Crabs starter from the game. Craig Stem came on to relieve Thompson, allowing both inherited runners to score, giving York an 8-4 lead. A triple from Travis Witherspoon scored another, before a wild pitch allowed Witherspoon to cross, giving the Revs a six-run lead.

Stem came back out for the fourth inning, giving up three straight singles, allowing Luis Cruz to score. A fielderโ€™s choice recorded the first out in the inning but plated Angel Franco for another run. Ryan Dent followed with a single of his own, scoring Jared Mitchell, and running the score to 14-6.

The Blue Crabs began the long road back in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two runs. Michael Snyder started the inning with a double, scoring two batters later, on a Devon Rodriguez double. Rodriguez crossed in the inning as well, scoring on a two-out double from Luis Alen. They added another run in the sixth, as Zach Wilson came through with a solo home run, cutting the score to 14-9.

After a scoreless seventh, the Revs added another insurance run in the bottom of the eighth, on a Witherspoon sacrifice fly to center. Brad Allen then came out of the bullpen for York, working a 1-2-3 inning, and locking in a 15-9 win. The win for the Revs snapped a seven-game losing streak for the team and snapped a four-game winning streak for the Blue Crabs.
