The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs donated the shirts off their backs to auction off as part of the College of Southern Marylandโ€™s 50th Anniversary Birthday Bash during the teamโ€™s final game of the season.

The teamโ€™s auction raised $8,139 for CSMโ€™s Campaign for the Next 50 Years.

As CSM celebrates its 50th anniversary, the CSM Foundation marks a major milestone in the history of the college with its Campaign for the Next 50 Years. The campaign is raising $5 million to fund an Institute for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, a Regional Center for Trades and Transportation Technologies; and initiatives to address local nursing and healthcare workforce shortages; focus on educational excellence, and endow a student scholarship fund for access and success.

CSM, founded in 1958, is the fifth largest community college in Maryland and has grown to be the educational centerpiece of Southern Maryland with campuses in Calvert, Charles and St. Maryโ€™s counties and more than 21,000 annual enrollments.

Celebrating the donation are, from left, CSM Vice President of Advancement Michelle Goodwin, Blue Crabs Corporate Sales Executive Bill Snitcher, Blue Crabs General Manager Chris Allen, CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried, CSM Director of Student Life and Athletics Michelle Ruble and CSM Foundation Board of Directors Vice Chair Greg Cockerham.
