ย Thatโ€™s right Calvert County United Way is holding its annual Mardi Gras and gala fun raiser on March 1 at the nearby the Show Place Arena.

ย Eight years ago the now much anticipated gala event began as a low-key cocktail reception to raise money for United Way of Calvert Countyโ€™s capital campaign. Now, Calvert United Wayโ€™s Mardi Gras raises nearly $100,000 each year for the Community Impact Fund.

ย This year the event comes complete with a wide selection of New Orleans-style dishes, music by the Junkyard Saints, live and silent auctions, beads, costumed fun and entertainment sure to enthuse even the most hard to please.

ย So, take a break from winter and make your way to the lively streets of New Orleans at United Way of Calvert Countyโ€™s annual Mardi Gras celebration and fundraiser at The Show Place Arena on Saturday, March 1, 2008, from 7 pm to midnight. Let down your hair and get ready for the New Orleans experience right here. All you have to do is dance the night away and have fun!

ย Tickets are available at any PNC Bank or Maertens Fine Jewelry location in Calvert County, TicketMaster Outlets in Maryland and D.C., and the United Way House in Prince Frederick.
