Brian Boyle has not only cheated death, become a world-class triathlete, but has now become a published author. Boyle’s memoirs, “Iron Heart” is in production with presales already going on Amazon.com.
The book tells the story of Boyle’s horrific automobile crash that caused his heart to move across his chest and brought him to the edge of existence eight times. The strapping teen, at 230 pounds before the time of the crash, was a mangled mess and in a coma, but managed to survive despite the extraordinary odds.
These years later, Boyle is an accomplished athlete whose life story has been chronicled on television and in print. However, at the urging of his publisher, Boyle thought it was time to relive the ordeal, agony and triumph of his young life by sharing his experience with the world.
Boyle took the better part of five years to complete Iron Heart and admitted that it was tough work to write down everything he had experienced.
“I began writing about my journey as another form of therapy in late 2004 after I was released from the hospital. One, two, three pages at first and then five years later over thirty chapters were completed.
Boyle stated that most of the chapters were hard to write about because they were so dramatic and sometimes overwhelmingly intense. “I tried to express the overall experience through truth and emotion. The truth is that I was brought back to life through the never-ending hope and love from my parents.”
Boyle’s emotion lies within the terrifying reality he wrote on every page of this book, from cover to cover. “This book is not just a story of what I overcame, but a story of how life can sometimes bring momentous obstacles that need to be conquered, no matter how bleak the situation.”
Boyle summed up his interview wanting to say thanks to those who have helped him along the way. “I especially want to thank those in the Southern Maryland area, who played a supportive role in my recovery during my journey back to life. Thank you for all of your support, well wishes and for always believing in me.”
