Barstow, MD – Calvert County Administrator Terry Shannon announced Tuesday, Feb. 7 Department of Economic Development Program Specialist Ruthie Buckler as the 2016 Employee of the Year during the Calvert County Government Annual Employee Service Awards ceremony. Ruthie was chosen after receiving the Employee of the Month Award last May for spending many hours of personal time researching, summarizing and giving employees a means to express their thoughts and concerns about health insurance benefits and potential changes.
“She has gone above and beyond her normal duties to advocate for Calvert County employees, having served as chairwoman for the Calvert County Employee Representative Committee for many years,” said Shannon. “When Ruthie learned of proposed health insurance plan changes, she immediately got to work making inquiries, fielding questions from concerned employees and meeting with representatives from Carefirst. She made sure all employees’ concerns were mutually understood.”
The Employee Service Awards ceremony was held at the Calvert County Fairgrounds.
