
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Calvert County invites the community to celebrate the holiday season with two weekends of festive, family-friendly events as part of the annual “A Main Street Christmas” celebration. These free events promise holiday cheer, live music and seasonal activities, making downtown Prince Frederick a holiday destination for family and friends.
The event series is organized by Calvert County Parks & Recreation, the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Communications & Media Relations, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, Calvert County Historical Society, Calvert Garden Club and the Arts Council of Calvert County.
Calvert County welcomes everyone to bring their loved ones, and celebrate the joy and fellowship of the season:
Friday, Dec. 5 – Tree Lighting
4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Calvert County Courthouse Lawn at 175 Main St. in Prince Frederick
Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with live music, arts and crafts and visits with Santa. At 5 p.m., the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place on the courthouse lawn, creating a magical holiday atmosphere for the community, with greenery and decorations created by the Calvert County Garden Club.
Saturday, Dec. 13 – Parade
10 a.m. to noon in downtown Prince Frederick
Join in the annual Calvert County Holiday Parade, hosted by the Calvert County Department of Parks & Recreation. Experience the festive atmosphere as the parade starts near the intersection of Church and Main Street, continues along Main Street, onto Duke Street, through the Prince Frederick Shopping Center and along Church Street. Free public parking is available in several locations:
· Calvert County District Courthouse lot (200 Duke St.)
· Calvert County Circuit Courthouse, lower lot (175 Main St.)
· King Memorial Park, parking lot (30 Duke St.)
· Parking lot at 15 Duke St.
· Accessible Parking – Calvert County Sheriff’s Office lots (30 Church St.)
Organizations and community groups interested in joining the parade may register using the parade entry form. The registration deadline is Monday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 13 – Old-fashioned Christmas at Linden House
Noon to 4 p.m. at 70 Church St. in Prince Frederick
The Calvert County Historical Society will host an old-fashioned Christmas at the historic Linden House in Prince Frederick. This event offers a step back in time, celebrating the season in a nostalgic setting with festive décor and seasonal activities throughout Linden House.
