PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. –  According to the Calvert County Health Department there are 18,000 Calvert County adults who remain unvaccinated. Another 35,000 residents age 16 and older are eligible for boosters but have not yet received one, including 4,000 seniors.

After opening on January 24, the Health Department’s Fox Run Shopping Center site (713 Solomons Island Rd. North in Prince Frederick) will expand hours for Covid testing and vaccination.

All tests at the Health Department test site are PCR, which is more reliable than rapid antigen tests. PCR tests are sent to a licensed medical laboratory with results typically available in 1-2 days.

Testing takes place between 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday by appointment only.

The Fox Run Center site also held a special Saturday Vaccination Clinic for children, teens, and adults on January 8. Children ages 5-11 were able to get initial vaccine doses and teens ages 12-15 were able to get boosters after the recent approval by the FDA.

You can schedule a booster with your doctor’s office, local pharmacy, or register online with your Health Department for either a Moderna or Pfizer dose at https://www.calvertcountycovid19.com/vaccination-registration
