PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – A Calvert County woman has been indicted in connection with the death of two infants five years apart. The Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office issued the following press release:

On March 08, 2012 at approximately 1745 hours a telephone call was placed to the Calvert Control Center about a deceased newborn infant found in a trash bag within the trunk of a vehicle located at 5442 Hallowing Point Road in Prince Frederick. The investigation revealed that the infant was that of Melissa Schrae Bowen, 33, of 5442 Hallowing Point Road, Prince Frederick and was born between October 2011 and January 2012. The case was assigned to Det. Michael Mudd of the Calvert Investigative Team and remained open pending further investigation and autopsy results.ย ย 

On November 16, 2012 Officers of the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office located a deceased newborn infant in a suitcase in the attic of a residence located in La Plata. Investigation revealed that the infant died in Huntingtown and subsequently transported by Melissa Schrae Bowen to the residence in La Plata, Maryland. It is believed that the birth occurred between January 2007 and December 2007. The case was assigned to Detective Mike Mudd of the Calvert Investigative Team and remained open pending further investigation and Autopsy results.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, a Calvert County Grand Jury issued an indictment for one count of 2nd degree murder and two counts of manslaughter on Melissa Schrae Bowen.
