CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — A Chesapeake Beach man has been charged in a Calvert County drug distribution investigation after detectives alleged he sold cannabis during multiple controlled purchases before search warrants led to suspected cannabis and cash.

Keith Montgomery Lucombe III, 37, of Chesapeake Beach, is charged with three counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and four counts of possession with intent to distribute cannabis, according to charging documents.

The case stems from an investigation by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit that began during the winter of 2026. Charging documents allege detectives learned through a confidential informant that cannabis was being sold by Lucombe in Chesapeake Beach.

According to the statement of probable cause, detectives arranged and monitored three controlled purchases from Lucombe during the spring of 2026. The purchases were tied to March 25, May 1 and May 19, according to the charge information listed in court records.

During each controlled purchase, detectives searched the confidential informant before the transaction, provided pre-recorded currency, monitored travel to and from the transaction location and searched the informant again afterward, charging documents allege.

Investigators reported that suspected cannabis purchased during the controlled transactions was recovered, transported to the Drug Enforcement Unit office and submitted into evidence.

On May 20, 2026, detectives applied for and received search and seizure warrants for Lucombe’s residence and a black Nissan Titan connected to the investigation. The warrants were granted by Judge Rappaport, according to charging documents.

Members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team, Warrant Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit executed the residential warrant around 5:47 a.m. May 21, 2026, court documents show.

During the search, detectives reported finding $867.34 in cash, including small denominations, along with multiple clear plastic bags containing suspected cannabis inside the residence. Charging documents allege suspected cannabis was found in a spare bedroom and in Lucombe’s bedroom.

Detectives later executed a second warrant on the Nissan Titan around 2:05 p.m. May 21, 2026. During that search, investigators reported finding a clear plastic bag containing suspected cannabis inside the vehicle.

Charging documents state the suspected cannabis seized during the investigation weighed 111.2 grams with packaging.

Lucombe was initially held without bond following his arrest. At a May 26, 2026, bail review hearing, Judge Robyn Riddle set bond at $10,000. Court records show the cash bond was posted the same day.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 22, 2026, at Calvert District Court in Prince Frederick.
