ST. LEONARD, Md. — A Port Republic woman and a St. Leonard man are awaiting trial dates in Calvert County District Court later this month following their arrests on drug-related charges during a traffic stop this past August.

The driver, Jessica Ann Wilde, 36, of Port Republic, and her passenger, Corey Levant Johnson II, 35, of St. Leonard, were charged after a vehicle search reportedly uncovered oxycodone and drug paraphernalia, according to charging documents.

The incident began on the evening of Aug. 22, 2025, when a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a blue Honda Odyssey with a cracked windshield on St. Leonard Road. According to the probable cause statement, as the deputy’s cruiser passed, the front passenger, Johnson, appeared to slump down into his seat as if trying to conceal himself. After the deputy positioned his vehicle behind the Honda, the driver, Wilde, turned into a parking lot near The Tavern. Court documents state that through the deputy’s training and experience, he recognized that individuals involved in illegal activity sometimes attempt to evade a police presence.

After the deputy initiated the traffic stop, Johnson was reportedly observed making aggressive, furtive movements toward the vehicle’s floorboard. Due to his actions, Johnson was asked to step out of the car. While speaking with him, a corporal on the scene noted a white residue in Johnson’s nose. The probable cause statement notes that officers, through training and experience, recognize that individuals who ingest controlled dangerous substances intranasally may have visible residue on their person. The encounter was recorded on the deputy’s Axon body camera.

According to a sheriff’s office crime blotter, Johnson allegedly admitted to hiding three acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride pills in his sock. A search of the vehicle then reportedly revealed a purse belonging to Wilde, which allegedly contained two additional pills, a makeshift smoking device, and a cut straw with residue.

Wilde faces charges of CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia. Johnson is charged with CDS: Possession – Not Cannabis. If convicted under Maryland law, the possession charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and/or a fine of $25,000, while the paraphernalia charge is punishable by up to a $500 fine.

Court records show both Wilde and Johnson were released on their own recognizance following the arrest. Johnson is scheduled for a trial scheduling hearing on Oct. 21, 2025, and Wilde has a hearing scheduled for Oct. 30, 2025. All proceedings are set to take place in Calvert County District Court.
