
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for our area through Saturday afternoon as continued significant rainfall continues in our area. So far, 3-8 inches of rain has fallen across Calvert County and the National Weather Service is predicting an additional 3 inches to fall before 8 a.m.
The Calvert County Department of Public Safety is urging county residents to be prepared and is making sand and sand bags available for those who need them to protect property. Up to 10 sand bags per vehicle may be picked up today, Friday, May 18, until 4:30 p.m. at the Calvert County Government Highway Maintenance Building, 335 Stafford Road in Barstow. Residents are responsible for filling the sand bags. Shovels and bags will be provided.
