HUNTINGTOWN, Md. – The Calverton School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jamey Hein as The Calverton School’s Interim Head of School, effective July 1, 2021 thru June 2023. Jamey Hein received his BA in English from Denison University (OH) and a MEd in Education from the University of Virginia. He brings 25 years of independent school experience to Calverton. In addition to over 15 years in the classroom, Mr. Hein served as the Head of Middle
School at the Greenhills School in Ann Arbor, Michigan from 2007-2013 and as the Head of School at the St. Martin’s-in-the-Field Episcopal School in Severna Park, Maryland for the past eight years. During his time at St. Martin’s, he was instrumental in leading efforts to strengthen enrollment and philanthropy including successfully achieving the School’s first capital building campaign, enhancing diversity and inclusion efforts, and launching several innovative learning programs to advance his school’s educational mission.
Mr. Christopher Hayes, The Calverton School’s Head of School for the last five school years, will be stepping down to move back to Rhode Island to be near his family. He will be missed by the entire Calverton family, but we are happy that he will have the opportunity to share his gifts with another independent school as he assumes the role of Head of School at School One in Providence.
Jamey Hein shared, “The warmth and generosity Christopher has shown in introducing me to the [Calverton] community reflects his own love and pride for Calverton and the stewardship he has brought during his successful tenure.”
Jamey Hein embraces Calverton’s vision of creating a vibrant and inclusive learning experience that engages and encourages students to discover their passions and realize their full potential. “It is clear that Calverton is a truly beloved learning community. In each space and at every turn, I could sense the potential of the students and teachers and how Calverton’s mission, core values, and Philosophy of Honor are fulfilled on a daily basis.” To learn more about the positive impact of a Calverton education and how it is adapting to full time campus learning call the Admissions office at 410-535-0216 or visit www.calvertonschool.org.
