This is the second installment of three articles from the candidates debate held Sept. 27 at St. Maryโs College of Maryland. Delegate Johnny Wood faces off with his opponent Joe DiMarco.
With Johnny Woodโs conservative Democrat stance and Joe DiMarcoโs position as a Republican church deacon, the candidates had similar stances on many issues.
The candidates agreed on the issue of stem cell research, in that embryonic stem cells should be protected and not harvested for research.
Both also agreed that Maryland is making strides in protecting the Chesapeake, but more needs to be done.

This evening, St. Maryโs College is hosting a second round of debates at 7 p.m. at the campusโ Cole Cinema.

Scheduled to appear is Maryland Senator Roy Dyson and his opponent Tommy McKay; Delegate John Bohanan and his opponent Tim Wood; and the candidates for the contested St. Maryโs County Commissioners seats. Those debates include Jackie Russell and Joseph Bush; Kenny Dement and Elfreda Mathis; Tom Mattingly and Ken Carkhuff; and, Larry Jarboe and Joe St. Clair.
