GERMANTOWN, Md. — Emergency crews responded late Thursday night after a vehicle crashed into a townhouse in Germantown, causing significant structural damage and a partial collapse of the home.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. on March 12, 2026, in the area of Palmetto Circle. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, a vehicle struck the residence with enough force to collapse a large portion of the structure’s lower level.

Firefighters from the department’s Special Operations Technical Rescue Team (TRT) responded to stabilize the building and assist with extrication operations. Crews worked to shore up the damaged structure and conducted thorough searches of the residence to ensure no one was trapped inside.

Two people were inside the townhouse at the time of the crash but were able to escape without injury.

Following the extrication operation, two individuals involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Emergency crews remained on scene working to secure the structure and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officials said the incident serves as a reminder of how quickly a routine drive can turn into a dangerous situation, particularly in residential neighborhoods. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
