Organizers of a car show held Saturday, Sept. 8 to aid the survivor of a recent domestic tragedy report the event raised nearly $4,000. The benefit for Frank โ€œFrankieโ€ Hayward III was held at Sneadeโ€™s Ace Hardware in Lusby. In addition to the Washington Redskins Hogettes, Rockinโ€™ Elvis, local vendors, members of the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department and classic car owners, Frankie Hayward was also part of the festivities. The 12-year-old, who was released from Childrenโ€™s Hospital Aug. 24, took rides in some of the classic cars and was seen zooming around the grounds in a motorized cooler.

Among the other events planned to help Frankie is a second car show, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 23 from noon to 4 p.m. in North Beach.
