LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Felony assault charges against Jason Francis Hancock, 36, of Mechanicsville, were dismissed by state prosecutors following a March 16, 2025, incident involving an Amazon Flex delivery driver.

According to court documents, Hancock was originally charged after an early-morning encounter outside his residence. The delivery driver reported that Hancock approached her vehicle around 4:15 a.m., allegedly pointing what appeared to be a firearm toward her and causing significant distress. Despite attempts by the driver and her son to identify themselves as Amazon personnel, the encounter escalated, leading to Hancock’s arrest.

Hancock later asserted that the object in question was a BB gun, not a firearm, and that he did not intend to threaten the driver. He attributed the confusion to loud music playing from the delivery vehicle and the early morning hour.

Court records confirm that all criminal charges against Hancock were dismissed in April. However, a separate peace order was granted in the days following the incident. The interim peace order was issued March 17, extended by a temporary order on March 19, and finalized March 26. The order prohibits Hancock from abusing, contacting, or entering the residence of the delivery driver.

Records also indicate Hancock was previously the subject of a domestic violence protective order in 2022, which remained active for several months and similarly required restrictions on contact and firearm possession.

No additional court proceedings are currently scheduled in connection with the March 16 incident

  1. Maybe they shouldn’t be delivering that early in the morning and they will not run into that issue.

    1. Maybe they should pay attention to what time they request deliveries. I hope someone points a gun in your face the next time you’re just doing your job.

    2. He or the resident placed the order to be delivered at that time. All delivery days and times are shown on Amazon when placing an order; especially if they want it overnight.
