Maryland State Fire Marshals served a criminal summons today on David R. Scriber (28 years old) for intentionally activating the fire alarm system in an apartment complex known as “The Gateways” where he is an occupant. “The Gateways” are located in Lexington Park in the 21000 block of Lexwood Drive.
The Southern Region Office of the State Fire Marshal received a complaint which led to an investigation into multiple false alarm calls at an apartment complex managed by the St. Mary’s County Housing Authority.
The false alarms were reported on four different occasions and caused an emergency response from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department. Two separate Fire alarm pull stations were utilized on each of the four occasions.
Scriber has been charged with four counts of Causing a False Alarm and if convicted faces up to 20 years imprisonment and / or $20,000.00 dollars in fines.
