LA PLATA, Md. – At 5 p.m. on May 17 the Education Association of Charles County (EACC) and supporters will participate in a car parade to reiterate EACC’s demand that Charles County Board of Commissioners fully fund the education budget. The commissioners will vote on the budget May 18.

“With the struggle that all school systems are currently experiencing in finding qualified candidates in an ever-dwindling educator job market, now is not the time to underfund the public education budget. CCPS educators have persevered and reinvented the methods of instructional delivery to meet the needs of our students. Not funding tentative agreements sends the message that our elected officials do not value public education at a time when we cannot afford to fail to invest in the educators that we have who have gone the extra mile for their students this year, despite enormous challenges,” McLaughlin said.
