ARLINGTON, Va. – On May 12, 2024, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s Honor Guard welcomed families of fallen police officers nationwide who were visiting the National Police Memorial.
“Our Honor Guard lined up as they exited the plane and entered the airport, saluting all families with honor and respect,” said the Sheriff’s Office.
“This task, though heartrending under the shadow of their loss, is one we approach with deep respect and commitment. Itโs a poignant reminder of the courage and dedication of those weโve lost. Our thoughts are with the families, and we stand united in support and remembrance.”

This was also in observance of National Police Week, which takes place between May 12 through May 18.
According to policeweek.org, “National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.”
