LA PLATA, Md. — The Charles County Board of Education will hold its scheduled meeting virtually on Tuesday, Feb. 11, due to the potential for inclement weather, Superintendent Maria V. Navarro, Ed.D., announced.
Student and staff recognitions originally planned for the meeting will be rescheduled for future board sessions.
According to the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting, available on BoardDocs, the school system has one remaining inclement weather make-up day. If that day is used, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) can apply for a waiver from the Maryland State Department of Education. However, state guidelines require school districts to first use their designated make-up days and show efforts to recover lost instructional time before requesting a waiver.
The agenda notes that if additional closures occur this week, the school system may need to consider alternative options, such as extending the school year or using scheduled closure dates as instructional days. As of now, the last scheduled day of school for CCPS students is Friday, June 13.
Parents are encouraged to monitor the CCPS website for updates on weather-related schedule changes.
