Bryans Road, MD- The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office unveiled their new district 2 station Tuesday, Dec. 18. The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured Sheriff Troy Berry and many officers, who met for a morning briefing before the ceremony and then enjoyed a spread of food and refreshments afterward.

The Sheriffโ€™s Office worked with the owners of the shopping center to design a โ€œstorefront space based on our input,โ€ according to Diane Richardson in the Charles County Sheriff Media Relations Office. Richardson added that Capital Partners, LLC, the owners, paid for the construction of the new office.

The old District 2 station, formerly a bank.

The new station is not far away from the old, just across a parking lot, but as Sheriff Berry stated in his speech, that location, along with the previous district 2 locations, โ€œdidnโ€™t necessarily meet the needs of Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office staff members.โ€ The District 2 Station has occupied three spaces, none of which have been a space made specifically for the Sheriff’s Office but the new station is a change of pace.ย ย

Lt. Scott Grove detailed some of the key new features of the District 2 Station, elaborating that there is a secure area in the back for officers to โ€œtake property off of the road,โ€ and a normal clerk schedule that the previous office didnโ€™t have.

The station features a community room, open to be used for events by the public, and bins for citizens to dispose of expired or unused prescriptions, as well as old cell phones.

The new station is located at 3099 Marshall hall road and is currently fully operational. The lobby is open to the public Tuesday โ€“ Saturday from 10 a.m. โ€“ 6 p.m. The non-emergency number for the District II station will stay the same and citizens with questions can contact (301) 743-2222.
