A donation from Charles County Crime Solvers enabled Charles County Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Unit members to travel to Las Vegas to arrest a fugitive for several violent crimes.
Bolliver Sylvern Greer, 19, of Bryans Road had been wanted by the Sheriff’s Office since February for his role in a series of crimes that began in January. On April 9, the Las Vegas Police Department notified the Sheriff’s Office they had Greer in custody on unrelated charges. On April 23, after receiving funding assistance from Crime Solvers, members of the Sheriff’s Office Warrant/Fugitive Unit went to Las Vegas to take custody of Greer.
On Jan. 31, at 4:40 p.m. at the Smallwood Park and Ride in Waldorf, a 19-year-old man let Greer borrow his cell phone but Greer, implying he had a gun, refused to return it. Greer fled and the victim notified police. Responding officers observed Greer in the area. He matched the description of the suspect in the cell phone robbery and while officers were investigating whether he was related to the incident, they discovered he had an open arrest warrant. As he was being arrested for the warrant, officers discovered he was in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Charles County Detention Center and was later confirmed to have been involved in the robbery of the cell phone. The officer investigating the robbery then applied for a warrant for Greer’s arrest.
Later that day, two Waldorf brothers, ages 17 and 12, went to the Waldorf District Station to report they had been the victims of a car-jacking earlier. Investigation revealed the victims were leaving the St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf and walking toward their car when Greer asked them for a ride. When they declined his request, Greer brandished a handgun and forced them to drive him to another area but eventually, the victims stopped at the Smallwood Park and Ride near a security guard and told Greer to exit the vehicle. He complied and the victims drove to Waldorf to report the incident. The investigating officer recalled the earlier incident at the Park and Ride and discovered the suspect in that case matched the suspect described in this investigation. He applied for a warrant for Greer’s arrest.
Greer is charged with armed car-jacking, car-jacking, three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a violent crime, two counts of first-degree assault, false imprisonment, conspiracy to commit car-jacking, robbery, second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit theft, possession of marijuana, being younger than 21 and in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
After Greer was released from the detention center, he could not be located. On Feb. 12, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault that occurred on a VanGo bus when the victim, a 41-year-old Indian Head man, refused to give a cigarette to the suspect, later identified as Greer. The Sheriff’s Office obtained another warrant for Greer, this one for second-degree assault. The victim, who had been punched, was not seriously injured.
Greer was arrested in Las Vegas by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office on April 23 and transported back to the Charles County Detention Center. In addition to the charges previously mentioned, he was also served a bench warrant issued on April 4 for his failure to appear in court on an alcohol violation. He is being held at the detention center without bond.
