The Charles County Sheriffโs Office announces that it will apply for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) through the United States Department of Justice.
The grant allows states, tribes and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own local needs and conditions.
The Sheriffโs Office is eligible for $76,004 through the grant, which combines the Byrne Formula and Local Law Enforcement Block Grant programs to provide agencies with the flexibility to prioritize and place justice funds where they are needed most.
JAG funds can be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and criminal justice information systems.
The Sheriffโs Office invites citizens wishing to make comments or review the Sheriffโs Officeโs JAG application to contact Gloria Bowers, Deputy Director of Financial Services, at 301-609-6414. All comments should be made by June 22.
