La Plata, MD – The 94th annual Charles County Fair has been blessed with wonderful weather. The crowds converged on the fairgrounds all day Saturday, Sept. 16. The loaded agenda included baby contests, entertainment–everything from bands to dancers–displays of 4-H projects, pig races, pony rides and plenty of rides. Also in great abundance was food–including several styles of barbecue, crab cakes, hot dogs and the fairgoers’ favorite–funnel cake. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office had a huge presence at the fair as the county’s primary law enforcement agency conducted K9 demonstrations and spoke with young people with an interest in embarking on careers in law enforcement. Several churches, service organizations and businesses had booths and tents set up with displays. One local Lutheran Church even handed out free bottled water to the thirsty fair-goers.ย
The parking dilemma created by the popular event was remedied by the use of a shuttle service from downtown La Plata to the fairgrounds.
The Charles County Fair will conclude Sunday evening, Sept. 17.
