A Charlotte Hall man was killed Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving apparently ran a red light and slammed into a car on Route 214 (Central Avenue) at the I-495 ramp. Steven Ricardo-Terrell Hurdle, 36, was thrown from the motorcycle after impact. He was transported to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead from multiple traumatic injuries.
According to police accounts, Hurdle was apparently speeding to elude a Maryland National Capital Park Police officer.
The mishap occurred at 11 p.m. Sunday evening and shut down the eastbound lanes of Route 214 for several hours.
The driver of the car involved in the accident, which was making a turn on a green light, was not injured and deemed to be not at fault although she was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
