MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — We are receiving reports of a dirt bike accident this evening involving a child who was seriously injured.
At approximately 8:26 p.m. on July 30, first responders were dispatched to the 37000 block of East Spicer Drive for a reported dirt bike wreck that involved a 12-year-old boy who had been reportedly unconscious.
Upon arrival, crews discovered the unconscious boy and determined that the he needed to be flown to a nearby trauma center for his injuries.
A landing zone for Maryland State Police’s Aviation was established at Country Lakes Ball Park at approximately 8:37 p.m.
We do not have any additional details at this time. It is unclear if the boy was operating the vehicle with supervision or not. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
