Christmas Comes to St. Maryโs opened last weekend at Historic St. Maryโs City.ย Happy visitorsโ good cheer wasnโt diminished by balmy weather as they toured Town Center, learned about colonial holiday traditions, sampled wassail, assembled Christmas crafts, and enjoyed live music.ย The First Missionary Baptist Church Youth Choir kicked off a series of concerts in the Brick Chapel of 1667 with a lively performance of song and dance.ย ย
The event will continue on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 7, 8, 9,ย 14, 15, and 16.ย Entertainment may include wassailing, storytelling, musical offerings, and puppet shows.ย Enjoy carols, blazing fires, hearth cooking, and crafts to take home.ย A guided tour of holiday traditions will be offered each day at 1 p.m. and Saturdays bring community choruses to the Brick Chapel for a special holiday concert.ย Upcoming performances include:
–Sat., Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. –ย St. Peter Claver Catholic Church Gospel Choir
-Fri., Dec. 14 at noon – Great Mills High School Choir
-Sat., Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. – Chesapeake Charter School Youth Choir
Admission to Christmas Comes to St. Maryโs is $10 adults, $9 seniors, $6 students, and free for those 5 years of age or younger and Friends members.
