
Mechanicsville, MD— On March 9, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Patrick Handy met a victim at her residence for the report of a sex offense that occurredย at the Oakville Transfer Station located at North Sandgatesย Road in Mechanicsville.ย
The victim was at the transfer station dumping her trash when the defendant identified as Melton E. Donaldson, 70, of Charlotte Hall invited her into the small office at the transfer station to discuss something.ย
According to charging documents, “once inside, he (Donaldson) shut the door and began to touch her (victim) in a sexual manner. She reported he (Donaldson) rubbed her things and breasts with his hands on the outside of her clothing.”
Donaldson also, “kissed her several times on her face and asked her to give him oral sex. The only name she (victim) could provide was “Mel” which was embroidered on his shirt. He (Donaldson) told her she needed a man and asked her if she would come back,” according to charging documents. The victim said she would return and go home.ย
Handy responded to the transfer station, but Donaldson was not at work. He is employed as an attendant at the facility. Handy was able to obtain Donaldson’s information and attempted to call the Donaldson, who resides in Charles County.ย
Donaldson was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense. Donaldson at this time does not have a scheduled court date. He faces a maximum jail sentence of 11 years and or a maximum fine of $3,500.ย
