Calvert County, MD – During this year’s holiday season, several residents throughout Southern Maryland have been the victims of thefts of packages delivered to their homes. The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office provides the following tips to help ensure that your packages are successfully delivered to you.
- Have the package delivered to an attended location-work or a friend or relative’s home.
- Have the package delivered to the nearest shipping company center.
- Utilize the in-store pick-up feature that many stores now have.
- Utilize the shipment tracking and notification services so that you know when your package will be delivered so you can plan to have someone at your home to receive it.
- Require a signature so that packages will not be left at the doorstep if no one is home.
- Provide delivery instructions to the shipping company, indicating where you would like your package placed-side door, garage, etc.
- Consider insuring higher value packages.
