CALIFORNIA, Md. — A Lexington Park man is facing multiple misdemeanor charges after allegedly threatening staff at a California liquor store and resisting arrest during a nearby confrontation, according to court records filed in St. Mary’s County District Court.

Lucas Marstaller, 32, is accused of threatening employees inside ABC Liquors on Three Notch Road on April 19, 2025, around 8:30 p.m. Witnesses told deputies he left on foot before law enforcement arrived and was last seen walking away from the business and towards Three Notch Road.

Deputy Shannon Lacey responded to the scene and located a man matching the description walking near the La Quinta Inn. The individual reportedly identified himself as Marstaller using his Maryland ID.

According to charging documents, the deputy informed Marstaller that a no-trespass notice was being issued at the request of the store. While another deputy prepared the notice, Marstaller allegedly became belligerent and began walking away.

When deputies attempted to stop him, Marstaller allegedly shoved his shoulder into Lt. Boyer and yelled, “Get the [expletive] out of here.” He then refused commands to place his hands behind his back and resisted arrest, according to deputies.

Marstaller was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. He is charged with second-degree assault and resisting/interfering with arrest.

He was released on an unsecured $500 bond following an April 21 hearing presided over by Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser.

Court records indicate a mental health competency evaluation was ordered in May. A competency hearing scheduled for June 17 was postponed, and a status hearing is now set for Dec. 17.

In Maryland, second-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine. Resisting arrest is punishable by up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
