The Department of Planning and Growth Management would like to notify all residents that the following construction will be taking place at the Charles County Courthouse in La Plata from Monday, May 26 through Wednesday, June 4:

  • Excavate, Surface Pave, and Stripe Parking Lot C
  • Install Storm Line at Washington Avenue, Parking Lot D

County employees will not be allowed to park in Lot C during the dates listed above due to the scheduled excavation and paving activities to extend the existing parking lot, located northeast of the County Government Building and adjacent to Church Street.

Half of the existing courthouse Parking Lot D will be closed from Washington Avenue west approximately 200 linear feet to accommodate the excavation and installation of a storm line. County courthouse employees and customers are advised that additional parking is available in Parking Lots A and B. Handicapped-accessible parking will be available at the front entrance of the courthouse.

All employees, customers, and visitors are asked to take caution and be aware of heavy equipment moving in and out of the parking lots onto Church Street and Talbot Street during the hours of 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
