According to an investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, neighbors saw the fire coming from the house and called 911. Sixteen firefighters from the St. Leonard VFD responded and controlled the fire in 40 minutes. The total cost of damage is estimated to be $40,000. The area of origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation.ย

BROOMES ISLAND, Md. – The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning house fire in Broomes Island.

Around 6:00 a.m., crews from the St. Leonard VFD responded to the 4000 block of Songbird Lane, Broomes Island for the report of a house fire. The home was believed to be abandoned and vacant at the time of the fire. An investigation of the cause of the fire is underway.ย ย
