
WALDORF, Md. — A fast-moving brush fire prompted a large emergency response Sunday afternoon in Waldorf, with crews working to contain flames spreading through a wooded area.
The fire was reported around 1:45 p.m. on March 29, 2026, in the 3400 block of Mill Hill Road.
Initial reports indicated a brush fire involving trees, with conditions quickly escalating as flames spread. Due to the size and complexity of the incident, a task force assignment was requested, bringing additional engines, tankers, and brush units to the scene.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions involving brush and debris, including large vehicles, tires, and nearby sheds. Crews deployed multiple hose lines while utilizing off-road units to access the area and contain the fire from both flanks.
At one point, officials reported multiple lines in place as crews worked to control debris and brush burning throughout the area.
Crews remained on scene for several hours before bringing the fire under control. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
