LaPlata, MD – According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal a false fire alarm went off in the Charles County Detention Center on Sept. 18 around 10:20 a.m.
Reports show that an inmate intentionally broke a sprinkler head inside a cell causing the fire alarm to sound.
Damage is estimated at $500 and criminal charges are pending for False Fire Alarm and Destruction of Property.
