On Jan. 23 at about 4:52 p.m., in the area of Md. Route 4 northbound near Briscoeโs Turn Road Dep. Frank Winston observed a yellow motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed heading south.ย He made a U-turn and was able to get behind the motorcycle at Lower Marlboro Road and Md. Route 4 at a red light.ย Dep. Winston activated his emergency equipment but the driver of the cycle pulled onto the right shoulder of the road, passedย four cars and proceeded through the red light at a high rate of speed.ย Dep. Winston pursued the vehicle, both traveling at rates ofย over 100 mph.ย
The operator of the motorcycle was weaving in and out of traffic, passing cars while riding the center line and the shoulder.ย The motorcycle proceeded through a red light at Md. Route 4 and Cox Road and continued down the road at speeds in excess of 130 mph, again weaving and passing vehicles on the shoulder of the road.ย Dep. Winston was notified that units of the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office had Md. Route 4 shut down at M.F. Bowen Road.ย
The driver of the cycle cut left in between vehicles to the left shoulder of the roadway as he approached M.F. Bowen Road but was forced to stop as a result of the roadblock.ย He was ordered at gunpoint by several deputies to put his hands in the air and step off the motorcycle.ย He failed to comply with demands but was subsequently arrested.ย
Andre Terrell Dent, 33 of Lexington Park, was charged with fleeing and eluding. Dent was also issued several traffic citations to include reckless driving, speeding, and aggressive driving.ย
