Dispatch 2: South Stage Lineup

Mark the end of your summer by attending Park Rock Fest on Sept. 1 and 2 of Labor Day weekend at the Chancellors Run Regional Park in Great Mills.

The Park Rock Fest is celebrating it 5th year with over 125 Bands rocking out on 5 stages. The event is produced by  Power Jam Music and sponsored by  St Mary’s County.

The Stages are spread across the park featuring contemporary and cutting edge music, featuring bands performing all styles of rock,  including: Metal, Hardcore, Classic Rock, Punk, EMO, Scremo, Alternative, Independent, Pop, Hard Rock, Folk Rock, and Acoustic.

The 5th stage is new for 2007 and which features Go-Go, R&B, and Hip Hop.

The South Stage is by far the most widely popular music venue.  The tunes are catchy, you’ll want to join in singing with the vocals, or want to play your air guitar and drums with the musicians.

The Saturday program draws form bands far away and close at home.  This year Park Rock Fest went international with the chick band Anti-Hero from Toronto Canada.  Closer to home is Broken Stigma from Indian Head and Mad Mother Moose from Mechanicville.  These two bands share musicians are pulling double duty with lick that captures your imagination.   The Sunday program features bands that are on the national scene.  Audiostrobelight should not be missed with unbelievable violinist playing rock!  Laurn D’Aria is a powerful pop vocalist from Laura Maryland.  Finally the closing act is HydraFX, the were the finalist is the national NBC Talent Competitions last summer.  There style is a mix of Sting meets Rage Against the Machine mix with some Raga.  The Sax playing draws you to that ultimate state of rock high.

In addition to the music  there are local vendors in the market place and groups in the food court, market place and community center.  The gates for Park Rock Fest open at 9 AM and close at 11 PM.  Tickets for each day are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate.  The website provides details for local music stores and online sites that sell the advance tickets.  All age are welcome.  The fest is drug free, alcohol free, and obscenity free event.  For more information go to www.PARKROCK.com or call 301-737-5680.
