At 4:30 p.m. Nov. 24, Officer D. Gross of the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Robinson Place in Waldorf for a domestic assault report.

Investigation revealed the suspect fled in a vehicle but was still in the area. Officer K. Martinez located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Amber Leaf Place in Waldorf.

The vehicle was occupied by the suspect in the assault, a 30-year-old Washington D.C., man, a 46-year-old Hughesville man and Jerome Jermaine Simmons, 19, of Washington D.C.

Cpl. S. Brown and his K9 partner responded to the scene during the traffic stop and conducted a scan of the exterior of the vehicle. The dog indicated the presence of narcotics.

A search revealed Simmons was in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

The domestic assault was unfounded.
