RICHMOND, VA – Dominion Resources will once again mark the holiday season by providing more than $1 million in grants to help feed, shelter and care for people across communities where the company operates. Donations will be shared by 140 non-profit organizations that provide critical community services in 13 states. This is the second year that Dominion has given more than $1 million in Critical Community Needs grants through its charitable arm, the Dominion Foundation.ย 

โ€œWhile the Dominion Foundation works year-round to support worthy charitable causes, these grants are earmarked for programs that deliver basic necessities such as shelter, nutritious meals and medical care, to people in need,โ€ said Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and CEO of Dominion Resources. โ€œIt is especially fitting during the holidays to support organizations that are improving lives and building greater stability in the places we call home.โ€

Southern Maryland organizations received $60,000 in grants.ย The focus is on shelter, access to health care, and food security in regions served by Dominion.

Examples of this yearโ€™s Southern Maryland grant recipients include:

โ€ข $15,000 to the Maryland Food Bank for its Pack to Give Back Local program that provides packed boxes of holiday food to families.ย ย 
โ€ข $10,000 to the ARC of Southern Maryland for its Shelter in Place program to provide food and water for its residents and staff in the event of an emergency.
โ€ข $10,000 to the Farming 4 Hunger Food Bank Delivery Program, which has distributed nearly 7 million pounds of fresh food to food banks in southern Maryland and statewide.
โ€ข $10,000 to Calvert Hospice for the Burnett Calvert Hospice House.ย
