If you like fun, there is no shortage of events for this upcoming Saturday March 28th this year.
It starts off with the St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks Department one again pulling out all the stops for an unbelievable Easter Egg Festival to be held at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown from 12-4pm.
Money raised will go to the Recreation & Parks scholarship fund to assist local families in need and provide them with discounted recreational opportunities.
Everyone should have some hopping good fun. It is a rain or shine event please come on out.
Tickets are just $5 and you can participate in the Easter Egg Hunt, which is divided by age groups, so it is safe for the kids. It’s the parents I worry about. Lol. The first wave of egg-searching children will start at 12:30pm.
You also get to have your picture with the Easter Bunny and receive a 4×6 photo to take home and enjoy. Well you know rabbits. Seems Peter Cottontail has gone out and found himself, a lady, so there are two bunnies, Mr. & Mrs. Cottontail.
There will be a free activity area with games and crafts, local vendors with cool stuff for sale, food and beverages to buy if you don’t enjoy the taste of plastic eggs, face painting, raffles, and amusements provided by Pony Express.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriiff K-9 unit will have a demonstration so you better obey the law, Foundation 4 Heroes will talk to the kids about “Doing the Right Thing,” and Spring Ridge Middle School Rhythm Club is playing Led Zeppelin’s “Physical Graffiti” album in its entirety. Well not exactly but at least you’re listening.
This event is sponsored by SMO, Dr. Amit Khanna Dentistry, Life Touch Photos, SOMD BMX and Foundation 4 Heroes.
The Heroes have added some special eggs for cool prizes at their booth. Good luck kids.
At 6pm head over to Big Larry’s Comic & Games, located in the heart of Leonardtown, for a free scoop of their delicious ice cream and a chance to get autographs and pictures with the likes of Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man and more from the Foundation 4 Heroes.
Big Larry’s Comic and Games will also have lots of discounts on their food items and cool, free stuff for the kids. Don’t miss the 5 Year Anniversary, Superhero, Fandimonium at Big Larry’s Eatery.
For more info go to their facebook pages; Big Larry’s Eatery or Big Larry’s Comics & Games. Come eat, drink and be SUPER at Big Larry’s 5th Anniversary Party.
Next, if you like dressing up, then it is a Halloween-like evening for you at The REX. They are having a ComicOn Party so bust out your inner Superhero, or whatever, and come on out. For $20 at the door, $5 for kids, there will be
- an amazing buffet
- unique photo opportunities
- Costume Contests for all ages
- DJ Papers rockin’ L’Town
With sponsors like Street Trenz, Old Line Trophy, Big Larry’s, Jenna Cakes Bakery and Third Eye Comics, you won’t want to miss this. There will be some cool cars to check out at both Big Larry‘s and The REX, including the Hero Hummer and The SHIELD cruiser.
One of the best parts of these events is that they are a fundraiser for the Foundation 4 Heroes, the only local 501c.3 organization traveling to inspire children in schools and those facing serious health issues.
The REX has established itself as a hot night spot with creative food entrees and appetizers and cool local artists. Treat yourself for dinner there some night, but come and have fun on Saturday March 28th. See you there.
