LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Emergency crews responded late Thursday night to a serious single-vehicle crash in Leonardtown that left one person trapped and requiring a medevac.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on May 15, 2025, first responders were dispatched to the 24400 block of Maypole Road for a report of a vehicle into a tree. Upon arrival, crews found a single occupant trapped inside the wreckage.

Rescue personnel used Hurst Edraulic tools to perform a side removal and extricate the driver. After freeing the occupant, EMS determined the injuries warranted air transport to a trauma center. Maryland State Police Trooper 2 was requested and transported the patient.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
