MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A 59-year-old man was transported to a regional trauma center Sunday after his dragster rolled over during an incident at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville.

Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 1:04 p.m. on March 15, 2026, to the raceway located at 27861 Budds Creek Road for a reported vehicle crash involving injuries.

According to emergency dispatch information, the driver struck a wall and the dragster overturned, leaving the vehicle upside down. A helicopter was placed on standby.

The driver reported severe abdominal pain following the crash.

Emergency medical personnel evaluated the patient at the scene before transporting him by ground ambulance to UM Capital Region Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
