It took 38 firefighters a half hour to knock down a raging fire in a large garage in St. Inigoes early Saturday morning. Maryland Deputy Fire Marshals say the blaze caused $150,000 in damage.

The call was originally dispatched as a working house fire at 1:44 a.m., and then changed to a working garage fire on Orchard Way.

Volunteer firefighters from Ridge, Bay District, Valley Lee and Seventh District firehouses were dispatched. Patuxent River NAS firefighters responded as well.

Once personnel from Ridge arrived on the scene, they located a large barn fully involved, and started making their attack on the fire, reports 7th District Asst. Fire Chief J.A. Nelson.

A water supply truck and crew from 7th District established a draft from a pond near the scene.

Deputy State Fire Marshal W. Faron Taylor reports that investigation shows the fire started in the attic of the 50- by 28-foot wood frame structure from an electrical malfunction.

The loss to the structure was valued at $100,000; and contents were valued at $50,000.

The fire was discovered by one of the owners, George and Connie Trossbach.
