What shalt thou enjoy for thy renaissance feast?
For thy first course, thou wilt taste Pottage of Leeks & Almond Milk. ‘Tis a silky leek soup, simmered in housemade almond milk, finished with verjuice and ground ginger. ‘Tis served with a trencher of toasted sourdough, loved by peasants and courtiers alike.
Thy second course is a delicious Spit-Roasted Chicken. This mouthwatering half-roasted chicken is basted in herb butter and served over barley pilaf with cameline sauce — cinnamon, ginger, vinegar & toasted breadcrumbs. King Richard himself wouldst enjoy this course, were he not fighting a crusade abroad!
‘Tisn’t often that the landed gentry are gifted with a third course, but Pier450 is a generous host! Daryoles with Saffron Custard make up thy final course. What the devil is a daryole, thou dost ask? ‘Tis from the French pastry tradition, and ‘tis an individual pastry shell filled with a delicate saffron-and-honey custard, and gently spiced with mace (nutmeg seed aril) and rosewater.
Hark! Don’t forget that thee and thine are encouraged to dress the part. Peasants, royalty, fairies, trolls and other beings are all welcome to join the Prince’s feast for one night only! Costumes are not required, but please do wear something on thy bodies, Lords and Ladies! ‘Tis a fine, upstanding feast, to be sure.
